Dressing Up To Make Money At Home Online

When you make money at home online, it is very easy to simply get out of bed, get to work in your PJs, and not worry about what you look like. After all, if all of your clients are in different locations, and you aren't seeing anyone, what is the harm in being lazy and not dressing up to make money at home online?

There is no harm done to your online business, per say, if you simply go to work dressed in whatever you feel like, but the harm is going to lie in the long-term effects that you are going to see on yourself if you don't dress for work.

Now, you don't have to be wearing a fancy suit or a glamorous outfit, but even if you are making money at home online all day, part of what you need to be doing is getting dressed for work.

If you are making money at home online in whatever you wore to bed, you are sending yourself the message that it is okay to be lazy and that it is okay to simply slack off and not do what you should be doing.

You are also sending a message, if only to yourself, that you are not professional and should not be treated as such. If you do this for a long period of time, your business is going to start to feel like just something else you do at home, and you are going to lose site of the fact that you are actually running a business to make money at home online.

There are some things that you can do to make sure that you always stay professional and that you keep this in your head at all times, which will make your business run much more smoothly.

First of all, be sure that you dress for work each day. It doesn't have to be as fancy as if you worked in an office building, but you should be able to feel like you are at work, and you should wear something other than the clothes you would wear if you were simply making money at home online.

Also, you should set hours for yourself to be at work. Making money at home online is something that can be great, but it can also turn into something that means you have to be at work all of the time. If you set yourself business hours, and stick to them, you are more likely to treat your business as a business, and not as something that is taking over your life.

Something else that you have to be sure to always do is to answer the phone and emails in a professional manner, so that whoever you are communicating with will know that you are taking yourself, and your home business, very seriously. If you want to make money at home online, just be sure to stay professional by dressing and acting like you are really in business.

HonestMoneyMaking.com's Monthly Progress Report (April 17-May17, 2007)

Well, this has not been my most or my least productive month ever. I was all excited about mid-month to know that my earnings have surpassed last month's earnings, but then someone asked for a refund! DOH!

My biggest accomplishment for the month was setting up a cool Squidoo lens at HonestMoneyMaking.com at Squidoo

This has increased my traffic, but still short of my goal of 500 unique visitors per month. I did once get to 492 though, so I'm still on my way. I'm doing my best to learn how to use social bookmarking sites correctly and the most effectively.

One thing I am disappointed about is that MSN has removed their link popularity checker, so I have lost all my links from MSN in my page rankings, and lost some page rank for my site this month. If it's not due to that, then it's very possible that I have not gathered enough backlinks lately, or because I have gotten into social bookmarking, which I think allows some of your page rank to bleed to other sites which results in a lower PR.

If I don't get sidetracked by the sunshine in June, you may see a few big changes to my site, as I plan to re-word and re-work some things and make a few changes. We'll see!

If you really think about operating an honest money making business at home and making honest profits online, then you won't want to just start on a whim. Be sure you know what you are getting into, and that it's right for you. Be sure to calculate costs in terms of time, energy, and money. Plan first, take action second!
