The past month has been a very successful one for my online business in terms of traffic going up, number of new affiliates going up, and money in my pocket getting heavier. This really inspires me because after admitting to being lazy about my business over the hot summer months, I am just slowly starting to get back into the swing of things. I am just slowly starting to return to my daily to-do list after having made it more manageable and motivating for me to complete on a daily basis. I am not fully back where I should be in terms of work I need to be doing, and yet, it was my most profitable month ever. I have to say this really motivates me to work even harder, and be more consistent if I really want to make money online. I've realized that you can do this too by building your business momentum.

Many people who want to make money online start a new program with the hope that they will make millions overnight. This just isn't realistic no matter what some online business owners may tell you. I've seen the effects that building momentum can have on your business. I've been through some ups and downs and everyone will experience these. But if you give up on your online business even before a year has passed, you don't even have the chance to get the momentum going, or see that next upward swing in your results, and it will come if you put the time and effort in!

Let me explain by example what I mean by building momentum so that you can make money online...There are four ways I have done this, which are: Forum posting; Article writing; Blog posting; and Link generating.

Forum posting means that you join some discussion forums on business related topics, or topics related to whatever your website is about. It's free to join these forums, and a great way to get yourself into a community of other people who are doing exactly what you are doing. You can share ideas, ask questions, look for information, help others, make new friends, and find out what all the top dogs are up to. At first you may think this is not at all really vital to your business and a waste of time. Well, think again! I have made sales simply from offering helpful advice in forums after someone followed my signature link to my site.

A friend of mine who frequents a fishing forum told me that people won't even pay attention to you unless you have made over 500 posts. I thought he was full of it, until I had 500 posts, advanced in my status, and then had 1000+ posts. Believe me, people will pay attention to your posts the more you have because they can see that you have been around for a while and must know what you're talking about. This isn't to say you should go and spam the forums. That is a no-no! Make useful contributions to the forums and offer something of value on a consistent basis, and you will be building momentum for your business through forum posting.

Article writing is the next way I have built momentum for my business. Again, this is something you don't do overnight - not if you write your own original articles like I do. This is one of the best ways to advertise your business these days. Provide an article with useful information, and submit it to an article distribution service that will distribute your article to thousands of publishers with your online business links at the end in the author bio-box. You'll be amazed at how fast your links get dispersed around the net - One-way links pointing back to your site! I have also found that the more articles you write, the more of an authority you become in your niche. The more articles you have to your name, the more people will realize that you have something valuable to offer, you can be trusted, and your readers may decide you're worth buying from.

Similar to article writing is blog posting. The more frequent your posts, the more traffic you will get to your site. I recently found a tool on the net that allows you to type in your blog address to get a monetary value of what your blog is worth. Now I have posted my own articles, as well as other people's articles to my blog, and have added special news and reports in addition to that. According to the value I got for my blog, I need to beef up my blog even more! Obviously this takes time, and that is my point when I refer to "building momentum". If you quit early on, you will never have the chance to make your online business work for you or make money online.

Finally, link generating is another means I have used to build momentum for my business. The search engines don't even like it if you gather links too quickly because they see it as a deliberate attempt to get a link back to your site. It is recommended that you gather links slowly, maybe 10-15 new links per week, and you want thousands of links pointing back to your site! This, too, will take time, and over time, you will see your link popularity grow if you continue to gather links by writing articles, posting your URL to the link directories, linking to the internal pages on your own site, commenting on blogs, posting in forums, and so on.

Building momentum means taking the time, and making the consistent effort to build your business. It means not giving up pre-maturely, thinking nothing is working for you, and that you are not making any money online. If you take consistent action over time by posting in forums, writing original articles, making frequent posts to your blog, and getting as many quality links pointing back to your site, then have what it takes to make money online!

Business is picking up for my site, and I am excited about it! There's nothing that will motivate you more than seeing real results, in terms of increased traffic, more affiliate signups, and especially more money!

After joining the new Conquer Your Niche viral forum at http://www.conqueryourniche.com/forum/leb123z - which is fabulous by the way, and well worth joining to get free advertising credits simply by reading and making posts and referring others to the forum - I picked up some great advice that I have taken already!

Piece of advice #1 was to make your site more INTERACTIVE for your website visitors. You can do this by adding a Minipoll question/s to your home page. Piece of advice #2 was to add a TELL-A-FRIEND service to your site. I added it to my blog, and you can see it at the top of this page! If you think this is a cool site, please tell a friend about it! Also check out the Bravenet service where you, too, can get all these cool free services added to your website! This will generate more traffic for you, and I can't wait to see the results!

HonestMoneyMaking.com has been in business for 9 months today! It has been a good month this time around, due mainly to the more consistent effort I've been putting into my business this month!

Particularly, I have been more consistent about getting links pointing back to my site through Directory Submitter for both my website and blog, as well as getting reciprocal links with sites whose PR is the same or higher than my own.

I have been more consistent about posting in forums, and have joined a couple of new forums - the Earners Forum, and Conquer Your Niche forums.

I have posted more answers in Yahoo Answers and more comments on Blogsrater.

I have tried to get up to speed on my article writing, and while that's still slow, there has been progress made! I've tried to post to my blog more frequently, and all of this has made for a more successful month!

Lately I have been concerned about, and have been hearing more and more about duplicate content on the internet. Particularly if you run your own online business like I do, you definitely want to have good quality content on your site to attract not only visitors and buyers, but to get the attention of the search engines that look for unique content. Article writing is one of the best and most cost-effective ways to put content on your site, and to market your online business these days. The problem is that the same, or very similar content is showing up more and more on different web pages, much to the search engines' chagrin -- and they will penalize your site for it! Here are some ways to write and use articles in such a way that you can skirt the duplicate content penalty:

As far as article writing goes, there are different ways to get content onto your site. You can write your own articles, you can hire a ghostwriting service to write articles for you that you can put your own name to, or you can use other people's articles on your website and blog to add fresh content to your site. I'm going to discuss each of these in greater detail so that you can compare each, and learn some new tips on how to avoid duplicate content using these methods.

If you choose to write your own articles, you are doing the best thing for your business and for the search engines because you are making your site stand out from the rest by making it your own. You may find it difficult to come up with your own content, but I find that the more you learn about your business, or website topic, the more you will have to write about. It's easy in internet marketing to come up with a topic, as the learning truly never ends in this field! Your task becomes even easier when you consider writing one original article, submitting it, and then changing or re-writing it. There is nothing wrong with modifying your own articles and re-submitting them!

It's true that other people may use your original article on their websites and make you wonder about duplicate content. You may also wonder about submitting your same, original article to thousands of publishers through article distribution services. At first, this may seem the ultimate compliment to you that your article is being used, and so it should be! You also want your articles to be displayed in multiple places to grow you back links. But I have heard of instances where your article shows up in thousands of different places, the search engines see it as duplicate content, and then suddenly you no longer have a listing for your site in relation to your own article! The fact is, duplicate content cannot really be avoided on the net, and you should only get banned if you have a spam site with no valuable content. These are things I wouldn't really worry about.

Ghostwriting services can make your life easier by writing good articles for you for a reasonable price. This is a good option if you want to send out many articles at once with your name and links attached. It saves you time, energy, and work, and the articles put out are usually good quality articles. The problem is that many other people might have very similar content to yours. A way to avoid duplicate content here is if you just change a few things about the articles you get. For example, you may want to change the article title, or add headers to separate paragraphs. You can change some of the wording around, mix up the paragraphs a little, or even bold or italicize some text to make it more unique.

If you use other people's articles on your site, it may be best to ask for the author's permission to change the article slightly as well, or to simply quote bits and pieces of the article, surrounded by your own commentary. I personally like to use other people's articles on my blog to show that I am not the only authority on the subject areas in my niche. On days when I have writer's block, this method comes in handy as well. Lately, I have been trying to avoid duplicate content on my blog by adding an introductory paragraph before posting the article by another author in its original form. I haven't yet added concluding remarks following the author resource box, but this is also an excellent way to avoid duplicate content and I plan to do this in the near future.

Hopefully these article-writing tips will help you avoid the nasty duplicate content penalty. No one wants their site to be banned from the search engines, so it's a good idea to write your own articles, make slight changes to other articles if you have permission to do so, and add an introduction and conclusion to your blog if adding other's articles to your blog.

Making money on the internet is something millions of people either want to do because it sounds like a dream come true, or want to avoid because it sounds like a big headache trying to figure out all of the internet's complexities. Some people will jump into it without knowing what they are getting themselves into, and others will carefully research everything they can before venturing into an online business. Whatever you decide to do, you will find that there are so many ways to make money online, and so many different strategies that internet marketers use to get traffic to their websites that later translate into sales. It pays to do your reading and research first. In this article I will be focusing on one strategy that will generate traffic to your site and help you make money online. That strategy is called "linking".

First of all, it's very important to consistently get your website links onto other websites and directories so that people can find your website and visit it to give you more traffic. The more links you have pointing back to your site, the better your Google Page Rank or PR will be, because this is a measure of how popular your site is and how many other sites link to yours.

I'm going to start off by describing the linking strategies I have been using in my online business because I know these best. The first strategy is called "reciprocal linking". Reciprocal linking means that you find other websites that you want to have your website link on, and you ask to exchange links. If they display your link on their site, then you will display their link on your website. This can benefit both parties if the content is similar in that you have each gained a new, relevant link. You must be careful when using this strategy though. It's easy to exchange links with many sites, especially if you use something that automates the process like Link Machine, a program that I use and like. But if the content is not relevant to your site, it's not a great idea to exchange links. It's also not a good idea to exchange links with sites whose PR is lower than your own, otherwise, their site will benefit by the increased PR, and your site may lose PR from their lower PR.

The second strategy is to get one-way links pointing back to your site. For this I use Link Directory Submitter, which allows me to easily submit my website's title and description to a list of directories whose PR is listed. In this case, it's okay to add your link to a site whose PR is lower than yours because it is not a reciprocal exchange, it is a one-way link pointing back to your site, and the more you have the better. An even better way to get quality, one-way links pointing back to your site is to write and submit articles with your website link either within the article body, or in the resource box at the end, to publishers all over the internet. There seems to be no quicker way to get targeted traffic to your site than this.

Another good linking strategy for making money on the internet is to do a Google, MSN, or Yahoo search for keywords related to your website to see which sites get the top positions in the search engine listings. Once you find those top sites, click on them to see if they have any spots on their home page where you could add your link. Contact the web master of that site to let them know you would like to exchange links with them. If they say yes, then you know you will have a good chance of being placed higher in the search engine listings as well, which will bring more traffic to your site, and hopefully more sales too. You can also try finding free or paid web directories that will allow you to add or submit your website's URL by typing your keyword in the search box in Google followed by "add URL" or "submit URL".

Finally, making money on the internet can be made easier simply by making posts in discussion forums on your website's topic which include your links either within the body of the post, or in the signature file at the end. This gets you good one-way links pointing back to your site. If it's a popular forum that many people frequently visit, chances are people will read your posts and click on your links bringing you more traffic to your sites. Be careful in forums not to post just to get a link, as this is considered spamming. You want to add value to the discussions taking place by offering some helpful advice and asking good questions. This is what makes people click, not just randomly posting your links and saying "click here".

Making money on the internet can be fun and challenging. The important thing to remember is that you have to perform each task consistently, on a daily and weekly basis before you will see any results. It can take time to build up your links, or have your links accepted into directories, but if you try to get a few new links every day or every week, then you are on your way to building a popular website that gets visitors and money in your pocket.
