I started my Plugin Profit Site web business back in February, 2006, and by the end of April, 2006, I was also a member of Success University. They are two separate online businesses, and at first I hesitated about joining Success University and adding an additional workload to my already tight schedule. But it was an offer I could not refuse, and an opportunity of a lifetime. I added it to my Plugin Profit Site website to promote it right away, and suddenly I had three jobs - my fulltime career, and two part-time online businesses. You may ask yourselves how the two programs relate, when one is about profitable home-based business opportunities, and the other is about personal development and an education in business, sales, self, and success. This article will attempt to answer that question!

As many of you may already know, Success University is about training you to become the next personal and professional success story, particularly in business. I think the program goes very well with the Plugin Profit Site, only because I know who the man is behind the Plugin Profit Site web business. Stone Evans is the man, and he is our model of success. He really believes in personal development, health, spirituality, training, mentoring, education, and success. This is why the two programs compliment each other nicely. Many of the articles I write have to do with motivation, success, and personal development when it comes to working at your online business. I feel it really adds a personal touch to the whole "make money online" aspect of the business. Rather than just educating my readers about the next internet marketing tip, I also like to add the human element of what it takes to be successful both personally and professionally.

I also want to highlight the educational and training aspect of both the Plugin Profit Site and Success University. Not only does the Plugin Profit Site offer an information-packed 30-day training course in internet marketing, but there is a support network in the Plugin Profit Site community that will answer your questions, help you with any technical problems you may have with your site, and offer bonuses and suggestions as long as you are a member. The programs you join when you become a Plugin Profit Site member, such as SFI and Empowerism also offer additional training and resources for you to use in your business. Success University is also packed with educational and training materials for you to use when you become a member. It offers courses in personal development such as motivation and health, and courses in business such as network marketing and sales. It, too, has a forum, support network, resources, tools, and bonuses that can be used to help your business.

Both programs are profitable home-based business opportunities. The Plugin Profit Site allows you to earn five streams of residual income by joining affiliate programs, or you can add even more to your list. The more affiliates you have, the better your earnings will be. Success University is a multi-level marketing business whereby you recruit new students into your downline to make a profit. Both are "earn as you learn" programs. As with any business, this requires some advertising. Both programs allow you make money online by recruiting others. Advertising can be done online for the most part, but you always want to consider offline methods as well, such as phone calls, newspaper ads, face-to-face meetings, or handing out brochures. I like internet advertising the best, and have not ventured into offline advertising much so far. Online, you can recruit new affiliates and students in these programs by using email marketing, classified ads, or ezine solo ads.

While these are two separate businesses, they really do go hand-in-hand in that they both have a focus on personal and professional development, they each have excellent training programs, educational features, support, and resources, and they are both profitable home-based business opportunities that allow you to earn multiple streams of internet income by recruiting either affiliates or new students into your program. I think it's worthwhile to join both programs, but have found that with limited time, it is hard to keep up with the work involved in both. Success University has the biggest and fastest earning potential, but I find that if you want to focus solely on internet marketing as your means of advertising and promoting your business, then the Plugin Profit Site may be a better route to follow.

One of the reasons participating in discussion forums is a good idea is because you not only find answers to all your internet marketing questions and dilemmas, but it's a great way to find hot topics to write about when you consider writing articles for your business, or blog topics when you want to update your blog!

A recent question for me on the forum was that if I had limited funds and had to choose between the Link Machine upgrade and Link Directory Submitter, which would I go with?

First off, I'd have to say that Link Machine has been very helpful to me in generating reciprocal links with little effort on my part. There are always websites out there looking to exchange links with my site, and when they ask to exchange links, I receive an email notification which allows me to review the site, and select if I want to accept or decline the invitation.

There is some question these days about the effectiveness of reciprocal linking. Some of the gurus do not even use it anymore as a means of getting their links out there. In my humble opinion, it's not a bad technique if you use it wisely. As long as the sites you link to have to do with the content on your own site, then you should be okay. But you also have to watch out for Google's Page Rank (PR). My site currently has a PR of 4, and my blog a PR of 3. If I chose to do a reciprocal link exchange with a site that had a PR of less than 4 for my site, then I am doing myself and my site no good. My PR of 4 would bleed into their sites, which is good for them, but their PR of 0, 1, 2, or 3 would also bleed into my site and could possibly affect my PR of 4.

This is why I have become very selective in who I do reciprocal exchanges with. While I feel horrible for turning down a reciprocal exchange, I only make exchanges with sites now, through Link Machine, whose PR is 4 or higher for my site.

Link Machine is great because it allows you to choose the sites you want to make link exchanges with. This takes time, but the sites are there for you to examine and sometimes you can link to some great high PR sites if you are willing to look around, and you should be!

Link Machine is also good because you can create, add, and subtract new categories for your links page. This is very handy and Google really likes to see different and relevant categories in your links list.

With Link Machine, you can also change your settings so that you don't receive link exchange requests from unwelcome sites that can affect your PR negatively.

These are the ways that Link Machine has helped me, but there are other special features of Link Machine that can help you like and SEO wizard and link analyzer. I have gone with just the basic upgrade though - a one time cost of $89.95. For the money, I think it has been well worth the price. Check out more about Link Machine here!

Link Directory Submitter has also been very good for me. What's great about Link Directory Submitter is that you don't have to do reciprocal exchanges and you can get quality one-way links pointing back to your site. One-way links are the way to go these days, and the gurus out there try to get as many as possible. This is one way to do it, although writing articles is probably the best way.

With Link Directory Submitter, you enter your information only once and submit to high PR directories that have already been chosen. This is a huge time-saver if you don't want to manually submit your site's information to different directories and keep entering the same information over and over again.

Not only that, but the PR of each site is listed for you so you will know the quality of sites you are submitting to. But since reciprocal exchanges are not required for a lot of the sites listed, it's okay to submit your links to directories whose PRs are lower than your own site. It's when you do a reciprocal exchange with a site whose PR is lower than your own that the lower PR bleeds into your site. So with Link Directory Submitter, you can submit away to all the sites listed, which currently is at 619 sites to link to and it is updated regularly! Wow! I better get busy!

Whenever you have submitted your site or sites to a directory with Link Directory Submitter, a color-coding will indicate which sites you've submitted to, which are newly added sites to the directory, and which you have not submitted to. A disadvantage I have found with this is that the colors don't always change like they are supposed to after you have submitted your site. This can be a bad thing because if you have submitted it and you submit more than once you may get dinged by that site as spamming them and they will not allow your link to be posted.

The one other thing, which you have to watch out for even when manually submitting to all the directories, is that it takes time for your links to be reviewed and accepted while the reciprocal link exchanges are instant.

While I sound maybe more negative about the Link Directory Submitter, I would probably still choose this over the Link Machine if in a spending crunch just because of the quality one-way links you can pick up very easily. However, I am happy having both, as Link Machine allows me to link to sites with relevant content to my own site, and Link Directory Submitter gets me good quality one-way links pointing back to to my site. For a one-time fee of $97.00, I still think Link Directory Submitter is quite worth it. Find out more about Link Directory Submitter here!

Have you been blogging, but not too many people are visiting it? Are you waiting for those comments to come flooding in, but all you get is spam comments? I am going to tell you just a few things you can do, to bring in steady traffic to your blog.

Many new bloggers start a blog but get easily discouraged because they have no readers reading it. Well, the readers can't read your blog, if they can't it. They also won't read it, if it's not something they want to read.

My biggest tip I will give here is, give your readers something they want to read. If you write a post that people enjoy reading, they are going to reward you by coming back. Never forget that your readers are real people, make your posts conversational. When you are blogging, remember to keep each post to one topic only and include keyword rich words in your title. Be sure to post to your blog often. Search engines love blogs and if you are posting daily, your blog is going to be indexed by the engines even faster and more frequently.

My next tip, if you are looking for really large amounts of traffic, I would like to suggest optimizing your posts for the search engine. You will want to throw a little SEO into your postings. You can do this easily by doing the following:

1. Use your primary keywords in the title of your post
2. Use your secondary keywords in the body of your post
3. Use your keywords in your anchor text of links in the body of your posts

If you follow those three steps above, you have a better chance of your posts being properly indexed by the search engines. This means more traffic for you.

My next tip, submit your blog to as many directories as possible. If you haven't done so, make sure your blog has a RSS feed. If you are using Wordpress, it will create a feed for you. If you don't know much about feeds, visit http://www.feedburner.com. You can submit your blog url and it will give you a RSS feed address to use. I use Feedburner with my blogs hosted on Blogger. When submitting your blog and RSS feed to directories, make sure you try to submit to the big directories like Technorati, Yahoo, DMOZ, MSN, etc. Here is a large list of blog directories you can submit to:

My next tip, add a option to subscribe to your blog so your reader is updated by email when you make a new post. This is a great way to get readers to come back to your site. I use a service from FeedBlitz. You can signup for a free account at Feedblitz, then login to your account and grab some code to place into your blog template. In return, you are able to capture your subscribers names and email addresses. When you update your blog, all your readers will get an email letting them know. Don't pass up this way to bring traffic to you.

My next tip, create inbound links to your blog. You can do this easily by visiting other blogs and posting comments. You can trackback to other's blogs in your posts. If you have other blogs or websites, link to your blog within those. Basically, post your link to as many places as you can.

My last tip, ping ping ping. Make sure to ping your blog to as many as the services as you can. I use a free service at Pingomatic http://pingomatic.com/. At Pingomatic you can type your blog url, then select the service you want to ping. They have about 20 services you can select. This saves a ton of time because you can ping all the selected services at the same time.
